The Taster days
In 2023-24 we are running Taster Days for school groups and charities to allow groups of 10 young people aged 13-16 to experience riding and working with horses for the first time. We have a particular focus on students from diverse ethnic communities and disadvantaged backgrounds. Delivered by our partners, the British Racing School in Newmarket, the days take place from 9.30am - 3pm and involve:

10 students per day

The chance for every student to ride a horse or pony under the instruction of our specialist staff

Horse handling and grooming session

Simulator session on mechanical training horses

Specialist equipment (safety helmet, body protector and boots) provided

Hot lunch and refreshments throughout the day

Chance to find out more about the other courses and careers in racing

Students will work directly with our ponies, learning to groom them and about the sport's commitment to horse welfare.
Students will have the chance to ride one of our ponies and develop the basic riding skills. (A weight limit is in place for horse welfare reasons)
Students will have the chance to perfect their jockey pose on an equiciser and find out about the different courses and careers within racing.
