First Introductory Week held
The Academy's first Introductory Week for young people with little or no experience of horses or riding took place in October.
It proved to be one of the most popular courses that we have offered to date with a high percentage of applicants coming from a diverse ethnic background and several looked after children. The students spent a week at the British Racing School learning the basics of horse handling and care and had the chance to ride, many for the first time ever. They also enjoyed a day's work experience at the National Stud, undertook media training with ITV Racing's Oli Bell and enjoyed a day out at Newmarket Racecourse.
One parent told us, "Thank you so much. My daughter had such a great time and learnt so much. She says she made friends, built her confidence and was able to spend some lovely time with horses. Hopefully, once she completes her A levels, she will be back for the foundation course. Once again, thank you for giving her this great opportunity and looking after her so well."
